President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire National Capital Region (NCR) under strict quarantine to arrest the spread of COVID-19 across the Philippines. In the days, weeks, and months that followed, he expanded the quarantine to the rest of the country, introduced four levels of quarantine protocols, and conducted weekly assessments of the coronavirus outbreak to determine what to do with the lockdowns moving forward.
