Some companies in Japan are launching their post-pandemic strategies to find workers to alleviate labor shortages.
MK Group offers taxi services in the Kansai region in western Japan. It plans to hire 2,000 new recruits for fiscal 2021 that starts in April. That’s 2.5 times the usual number of new hires.
Daiichi Kotsu Sangyo in the city of Kitakyushu , Fukuoka Prefecture, also plans to hire 2,000 more people than normal in the coming fiscal year.
Both companies had been grappling with labor shortages before the coronavirus outbreak. They are aiming to secure workers now in anticipation of a post-pandemic recovery in the tourism sector.
