Taiwan vows to work with new WTO chief to strengthen trade system

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Wednesday welcomed the election of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the new head of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and vowed to work with her to strengthen the international trade system.

“We congratulate Okonjo-Iweala’s election as the new female director-general of the WTO,” MOFA spokeswoman Joanne Ou (歐江安) said in a press statement, lauding her vast experience in global trade and economic matters.
