Prayut Chan-o-cha, together with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Prime Minister’s Secretary-General Dissathat Hotrakit, and Thailand Board of Investment (BOI)’s Secretary General Duangjai Asawachintachit, met with Mr. Zhang Jia Ming, president of Great Wall Motors (GWM)’ ASEAN Operations and the delegation. Government Spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri disclosed gist of the meeting as follows:
The Prime Minister was pleased with GWM’s decision to make Thailand its automotive manufacturing base for the ASEAN region, especially for the manufacturing of EV (Electric Vehicle), which is relevant with the Thai Government’s BCG (Bio-Circular-Green Economy) policy to promote use of technology and innovation in a bid to minimize environmental impact.
