Toyota Motor says its global production rose 4 percent in January from a year earlier. The increase was largely due to record overseas output for the month.

Just over 740,000 vehicles rolled off Toyota’s assembly lines worldwide last month. Production rose in China and North America where demand is recovering.

Nissan Motor also saw its global output rise by more than 2 percent thanks to strong demand in China.
